I.D.E.A.
Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility
The Halifax International Wine Festival is committed to creating an experience that is welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for guests, producers, partners, staff, and volunteers.
The event is hosted at the Halifax Convention Centre, which provides full wheelchair access, accessible washrooms, elevators, and barrier-free entrances. Seating areas and vendor layouts are designed to support safe and comfortable movement throughout the venue, with clear wayfinding and accessible facilities throughout.
The Festival actively works with a diverse range of wineries, food producers, hospitality professionals, and community partners from across Atlantic Canada and beyond, supporting representation from urban and rural communities, small producers, and emerging businesses.
We work to reduce barriers to participation so that a broad range of voices and businesses can be meaningfully included.
Programming, signage, and communications are designed to be clear, welcoming, and inclusive. Staff and volunteers are briefed on accessibility needs and guest support, and the organizing team regularly consults with partners and attendees to improve accessibility, representation, and participation year over year.
Above all, we are committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable, represented, and valued.

E.S.G.
Environmental, Social, Governance
The Halifax International Wine Festival operates with clear environmental, social, and governance practices that guide how the event is planned, delivered, and evaluated each year.
From an environmental standpoint, the Festival prioritizes digital ticketing, minimizes printed materials, and works closely with the Halifax Convention Centre and vendors on waste reduction, recycling, and responsible service practices.
From a governance perspective, sponsorships and partnerships are managed through defined agreements with clear deliverables, timelines, and reporting. Budgets, sponsorship allocations, and charitable contributions are tracked internally to ensure accountability and responsible use of partner funds.
Social responsibility is reflected through long-standing community partnerships, support of charitable causes, and an intentional focus on creating a well-run, safe, and welcoming experience for attendees, partners, and participants.
These practices are reviewed annually and refined as the Festival continues to grow.
